What you'd be doing
One to six UC Riverside undergraduates join the lab each year through CBNS 197 and take a project of their own — at the bench or on the cluster, not shadowing someone else's.
You work alongside the graduate students and postdocs on the same questions the lab is actually asking, and present what you find at group meeting like everyone else.
A former lab research assistant is now a PhD student at City of Hope.
What we're looking for
Required
A UCR undergraduate
Any stage. No prior laboratory experience is assumed.
Required
At least a year, ideally more
Karine expects a commitment of one to two years at minimum, and three to four is best. The project is real work with a real result, and that takes longer than a single quarter.

Once a project is agreed, the course is how the work is credited — you re-enrol each quarter you are in the lab.
